Summer Programming for youth plays a crucial role in the development of social skills, as well it provides structure throughout the summer months, with reading, games, arts & crafts, mindful activities and community collaboration.



WELCOME TO SUMMER RECREATION!
Since 1976, the Summer Recreation Program has helped to provide a safe, structured environment for Wrangell's youth, where kids are encouraged to connect, play, create and develop solid social skills.

REGISTRATION + PAYMENT INFORMATION
  • Open Registration Date: 5/17/19
  • Registration: Be sure to set up an online account for each participant at www.wrangellrec.com or at the Pool Office. Each participant must be registered in the 2019 Summer Recreation Program before attending. Registration and payment choices include selecting certain days of the overall program, weekly or summer and making payment for those choices at checkout. Those that choose the weekly and summer rate will automatically receive a pre-calculated discount in price (13% savings for the week and 35% for the summer). All activity registrations and payments must be received before your child may participate in any of the camps. Summer Recreation Staff does not take registration in the field or at the gym. Please note that the Pool Office is closed from 1:30-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Fee Options, Per Child: $15 per Day, $62 per Week, or $435 per Summer (9 weeks)
  • Payment Options: Cash, Check or Credit Card either online or at the Pool Office. Punch Cards are not available for Summer Rec.
  • PLEASE BE AWARE THAT FEES HAVE INCREASED FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
  • Season Dates: 6/3/19 - 8/9/19, 9 Weeks
  • Days of the Week: Monday thru Friday
  • Time: 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Age: 6-11, home school students are encouraged to participate
  • Lunch: Children can be picked up at 12:00 p.m. for the lunch hour, or if they are provided they with a sack lunch, they may remain on site and under the supervision of Parks & Rec staff
  • Transportation: Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from the Community Center for the Summer Rec Program. In the event we have an all-day outing, your child will need to be dropped off and picked up at the all day outing location. If a problem arises where you are unable to pick-up your child at the specified times, please notify staff in advance so that other arrangements can be made. REFUND POLICY
  • WPR Refund Policy Description:
  • A full refund or credit will be issued if the department cancels a program due to lack of enrollment or any other unforeseen reason.
  • If the program is a limited enrollment program and the spot can be resold, a full refund/credit will be issued less a $10.00 processing fee.
  • For any program in which a minimum enrollment is required and the refund would cause cancellation of that program, NO refund/credit will be issued.
  • For any other program, the refund or credit given will be pro-rated from the time the participant informs the department of their desire for a refund. A $10.00 processing fee will be deducted from their pro-rated refund.
  • NO refund or credit shall be issued after the program is more than 50% completed.

OUR TEAM!
The Summer Recreation staff are CPR/First Aid Certified, receive onsite theoretical and hands-on training. All Summer Recreation Program staff must pass a background check.

Our enthusiastic team is ready to motivate kids for daily movement, structured play and heaps of fun! Please feel free to pop into the gym during drop-off or pick-up, meet our staff and take a tour of the facilities.
